Cuban health indicators are as good as if not better than those in the US, for example life expectancy is similar and infant mortality is lower. Yet it is a much poorer country. Gail Read, Editor of the Medic Review journal says making healthcare a political and economic priority has been the key to Cuba's success in this area.
