Tarbert, Co. Kerry: Thomas McGreevy, the Modernist Poet
The writer and poet, Thomas MacGreevy, was born in Tarbert in County Kerry but, when war broke out in 1914, was working in the civil service in London. He was promoted and transferred into the Intelligence Division of the Admiralty before joining the Royal Field Artillery and serving at both Ypres and the Somme.
