Poor Player Development "Plaguing" Nigerian Football
Nigeria have won a record 5th Under-17 World Cup title. It's a day for celebration, but also the time to ask the question, why are they so good at youth level but not so good at the senior World Cup?
Many African nations lose players at this age. The best talents go to Europe and often take up the option of representing their adopted nations.
But that is not Nigeria's problem according to the man who won them their first World Cup at youth level.
Jonathan Akpoborie scored the winning goal back in 1985 against West Germany.
He's been telling Steve Crossmsn that the cherry picking of talent isn't the issue, it's how Nigeria themselves handle their young stars.
