Taxis, Posada & Processed Meats

Start your day with the latest news and updates, with Jim and Jo at breakfast.

The war of words between taxi drivers and Leicester City council has stepped up following Friday's protest - which left parts of the city centre in gridlock. Members of the RMT Union say they are willing to continue their protests over a new new penalty points scheme into Christmas. But City Mayor - Sir Peter Soulsby - says the council is ready to end its goodwill to the unions - if any further disruption is caused. It follows long tailbacks in Leicester on Friday night.

Also, a Church in Leicestershire is going all Mexican this Christmas. St Mary's Church in Melton is celebrating the festival of Posada- which dramatises the story Joseph and Mary, and their search for somewhere to stay in Bethlehem. It involves figures of both Mary and Joseph being sent off from the Church on a worldwide tour after the Christmas Day service!

And, it was in October that the World Health Organisation told us that Bacon and Sausages could be as carcinogenic as cigarettes.... but has that changed our opinions about meat? Well according to a survey in the magazine 'Grocer' sales are down ... around 15 per cent in the last week of October and about 14 per cent in November. But have we in Leicestershire binned the bacon and slung out the sausages?

Also in the show, Gary Lineker gives his verdict of Leicester City's start to the season, a community programme aiming to get children outside, and a young girl's mission to help the homeless.
