Heading for a 'Solar Maximum'
Is the Sun reaching an 11-year 'solar maximum' in the number of sunspots and solar flares? Due around the end of the year, astronomers predict it might be one of the largest on record. This solar activity results in disturbances in the ionosphere (SIDs) that interfere with short wave signals.
