Using Artificial Intelligence to track oil supply
Over a thousand satellites in low-earth orbit journey around the planet each day, photographing scenes on the ground many times.
Analysis of those photos produces data on human movements, such as the numbers of people going shopping, and also tracks the global trade in commodities. James Crawford from company Orbital Insight says this can even show how full or empty the worlds oil storage tanks are.
