Dancing in China by Fuchsia Dunlop: Shanghai 2012
It鈥檚 a place your mother probably wouldn鈥檛 have let you visit, certainly not alone. A Shanghai dancehall, once a byword for the city鈥檚 louche reputation, today represents an antiquated era, and the glamour as well as some of the seediness has faded.
Even so, Fuchsia Dunlop dug out her dancing shoes and paid a visit to the Gate of a Hundred Pleasures.
