The German airline Lufthansa has cancelled a thousand flights on Wednesday because of a continuing strike by pilots.

The German airline Lufthansa has cancelled a thousand flights on Wednesday because of a continuing strike by pilots. The airline says around 140-thousand passengers will be affected. A court in Frankfurt rejected an attempt by the company to have the strike halted - but Lufthansa insists it will go ahead with contract changes that would bring pilots' pay and conditions into line with colleagues at the company's low-cost subsidiary Eurowings. We hear from Lufthansa's Head of Corporate Communications, Barbara Schaedler and chief spokesman of the German pilots' union, Markus Wahl. On Wednesday, US presidential candidates from both the main parties will make big speeches on the recent diplomatic deal over Iran's nuclear programme. As they do so, the current Congress will be debating their response - and it's now clear that President Obama can't actually lose the vote in the Senate.
