Milk crisis: diary farmer Doug talks about the fall in prices
'There will come a time when if we don't make ends meet, we'll have to sell up.'
Dairy farmer Doug gave his perspective on the recent dramatic fall in milk prices: 'we are dependent on the consumer. 'We have very little influence on the price we get.'
'There will come a time when if we don't make ends meet, we'll have to sell up.'
When challenged on the subsidies that are received by dairy farmers, Doug responded, 'I'd call it a support payment because we are not just handed the money. There's no automatic subsidy here, you have to earn it.'
