Church of St Barnabas, Heigham: Letters from the Front
The Reverend Samuel Leighton Green believed he was called by God to serve at the front.
He left his congregation to work as an army padre and was twice decorated from his bravery on the front line.
He wrote back to his congregation every month and his letters were read aloud to them. They provide an insight into the horrors of front line life, the challenges of maintaining faith in a war zone and the difficulty of adjusting to life at home when the war was over.
