Cleobury Mortimer, Kidderminster: Gassed at War
An attractive man of six foot three, Simon Evans made his living as a postman. He swapped his urban round in Birkenhead for the Shropshire hills and spent his days looking after the little farms and hamlets around Cleobury Mortimer.
Simon was a raconteur, writer and broadcaster. He enlisted in 1914, and his war was spent on the Western Front but he rarely spoke of his time there.
He was gassed, which affected his health for the rest of his life.
