George Benson enters Michael Ball's Singers Hall of Fame
Nominator: Mary Escolme
From: Pendine, West Wales
Mary has her choice of George Benson inducted into the Singers Hall of Fame on Sunday Night with Michael Ball.
Why: "I first came across him in the early 1980's. I was a contestant on "Diddy" David Hamilton's afternoon show on Radio 2. If I remember correctly, there were 5 questions to answer and for each correct one, the prize was an album from the charts… One of the albums I picked was "In Your Eyes", thinking it was by Paul Young! In fact it was George Benson! Mustn't complain as I listened to it, loved it, and I have been a fan of him since then!"
What a great way to discover him! Thanks for a brilliant nomination Mary!
