Black Grace at Assembly Roxy

South Pacific traditions and contemporary dance combine as New Zealand’s Black Grace come to the Assembly Roxy. Appearing here as part of the Fringe previews, they present a collection of works spanning nearly 20 years on their Edinburgh Festival debut.

Led by Neil Ieremia, Black Grace incorporate elements of traditional ‘slap dancing’ into their choreography. Their performance at the Fringe includes the iconic Minoi – which fuses Samoan dance and western culture, Human Language (2nd movement) - the first Black Grace work with female dancers, and Mother Mother - a new piece created for New Zealand band Fat Freddy's Drop.

You can see more from Black Grace as Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli hotfoots his way around the most dazzling dance productions at this year's festivals on Edinburgh Extra, Sunday 17th August at 10pm, Â鶹Éç Four.
