Nigel Evans on legal aid: "Something needs to be done"
Nigel Evans MP, who was cleared of rape and sexual assault on 10th April, has raised concerns that there could be a miscarriage of justice if people cannot afford to defend themselves in court.
The former Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons told 5 live Breakfast "When people are accused of these heinous offences, you've got to make sure that you've got proper representation".
He admitted that he had changed his opinion on legal aid and will ask Keith Vaz, chairman of the Home Select Comittee, to ensure people aren't left out of pocket.
Broadcast on 5 live Breakfast, 14th April 2014.
