Lydham, Shropshire: Three Wooden Crosses
Go into the vestry at Lydham Church and you鈥檒l see three makeshift crosses hanging on the wall. These rough memorials have the names of three local boys punched out on metal tape and fixed to the wood. And, on the base of the crosses you can see marks from the mud where they were pushed into the ground, above a temporary grave.
Driver Fred Green, Private Edward Jones and Lance Corporal William Rogers bodies are laid to rest in France.
So, who brought those battlefield crosses back to Lydham as a reminder of those three young men?
