Loughborough, Leicestershire: Zeppelin Bombardment
While thousands of British troops were killed each week on the Western Front, their families who were back home were thought to be safe.
But from 1916 everything changed as German airships, called Zeppelins, began their bombing raids on England killing over 500 civilians.
It was Loughborough鈥檚 turn on 31January 1916, when 10 people were killed after the lights of Loughborough attracted the pilot鈥檚 attention.
Death had come from the skies above Leicestershire.
