Independent shops on the rise

New research has revealed a big rise in the number of independent retailers now trading on our high streets.

In 2013, forty-four independent shops opened for business in Britain every day while chain stores were closing down at a rate of sixteen a day.

The figures come from the "Local Data Company" and the "British Independent Retailers Association".

So is this rise and return of the independent retailer making a difference to our town centres here in Leicestershire and Rutland?
