Stop and search reduced by a third says Met Chief
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe tells Nicky Campbell that there are now fewer stop and searches, but with more effective results.
Stop and Search allows police officers to approach a person or vehicle if they have "reasonable grounds" to suspect they may be carrying stolen or prohibited goods.
In recent years, police have faced criticism for targetting ethnic minorities with stop and search powers, creating tension between the police and those communities.
