International media - and other international bodies - are often criticised for having outdated, colonialist preconceptions about Africa. There's now a great sense of growing confidence, assertiveness and entrepreneurship - of 'Africa Rising' - so how best should that optimistic mood be reflected in news reporting? And how should the stories of conflict, corruption and poverty be approached, when to those living through them are still all too real?
