Harvey Weinstein, the producer of new film, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, tells of when he met Nelson Mandela for the first time. It was at a meal at a restaurant with about 60 people from the film industry, including Eddie Murphy, a few weeks after Nelson Mandela left prison.

Mr Weinstein said he was "profoundly touched" by Nelson Mandela.

鈥淲ith great humour and great verbal dexterity he talked about Thursday nights at Robben, Thursday nights was the night that they showed films,鈥� said Harvey Weinstein.

"He said to Eddie Murphy, I grew up with you, I watched you as a young boy, I watched you do you know with Nick Nolte 鈥�and I saw you in Beverly Hills Cop."
