The Death of Nelson Mandela

Shortly before 7pm on the 5th December 2013 the former President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, died.

The country's first black president and anti-apartheid icon led South Africa's transition from white-minority rule in the 1990s, after 27 years in prison for his political activities.

Tributes have been paid from across the country, around the world and locally too across Leicestershire and Rutland.
