Sadiq Khan MP has received an ‘MP of the year award’ in the House of Commons. The award was given by a number of organisations such as Operation Black Vote, and Mosaic which works on community cohesion.

Sadiq Khan made his name as a human rights lawyer before becoming one of the first British Muslim ministers in 2005.

He’s known for his work around social and racial justice issues. Earlier this year he faced death threats for his support of the same sex marriage bill.

He’s been talking about his career as a politician to Desi Download reporter Ruchi Tandon.
