Like so many ancient crafts in India, hand-woven Kashmiri shawls – or pashminas as they’re known the world over – are disappearing. They once graced the shoulders of emperors, princes and noble-men and were all the rage among Europe’s upper classes. But today, the hand-made scarves are being replaced by machine-made replicas.
