How is a camel adapted to live in the desert?

Camels have several physical characteristics to help their survival and to stop them dehydrating in the heat. Bactrian camels come from the Gobi desert in Mongolia. They have two humps which store fat. This fat can then be chemically converted to water and energy in times of need, allowing them to go for months without drinking. To conserve water and prevent them from dehydrating in the heat they hardly ever urinate or sweat and their dung is so dry that it could be burnt as firewood.
