Quality control of bottled drinks
To ensure that bottled soft drinks are safe for consumption and meet the required standards, various tests are carried out on the production line.
Before the drinks are bottled, variations in colour, acidity and flavour are tested using titration techniques in the lab. Then, at various points during the bottling process, visual checks are carried out; these test for things like fill height, screw cap tightness, label position and amount of carbonation. Samples are also tested for microbiological activity, to ensure there are no bacteria or fungi present.
