Iceland (2) – Crisis Refugees
Peter Day is back in Iceland this week, meeting those who are creating business opportunities in the aftermath of the economic crisis.
The Banking bubble in Iceland not only created a bust but it also took many of the bright young brains into its institutions. But when the banks crashed the jobs disappeared and this has now created a growing entrepreneurial sector. On this week’s Global Business, Peter Day meets some of the entrepreneurs who are creating opportunity out of the crisis and finds out whether a wealth of small businesses can really make a difference to an economy dominated by fishing, tourism and Aluminium smelting.
