Stuart MacBride's soundtrack to murder
Scottish crime author Stuart MacBride on how heavy rock music and the "Granite City" of Aberdeen inspired his dark thrillers starring Detective Sergeant Logan McRae. MacBride explains how the band My Chemical Romance soundtracked some of the action scenes in his books and takes us on a tour of the ever-changing Aberdeen streets and beaches that inspired the dark humour in his books. MacBride spoke to Dreda Say Mitchell for a special edition of Open Book about ‘Tartan Noir’ – the term used to describe the current glut of crime literature coming from north of the border.
