Eastern European migration to the UK
In the European Union, citizens from the member nations have the right to travel, live and work anywhere in Europe. In the years that followed the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 an estimated one million people migrated from Eastern Europe to the UK. For many this was a chance to escape the high unemployment in their home country.
We hear the story of a Polish hairdresser who found a better life in London. However, it hasn't been so easy for every migrant, and some have ended up sleeping rough on the streets.
But, what impact has this mass migration had on Britain? It鈥檚 a question that divides the opinions of the country.
NOTE: As of 2013, there are now 28 members of the European Union.
