The birth of African Kenya
Britain had begun to question whether conflict in the Empire was worthwhile after WW2; the whole idea of Empire seemed so out of step with global opinion, and over the latter half of the 20th century Britain granted independence to many of its colonies.
On 12 December 1963, the Union Jack was lowered and African Kenya was born.
