Jenny (Jessica Raine) bathes a baby and notes how she finds beauty not only in new-borns but also in the aged. Meanwhile Sister Monica Joan (Judy Parfitt), dressed in only her nightie, stands by the river, as a concerned Sister Bernadette (Laura Main) and Sister Evangelna (Pam Ferris) note her absence at prayers. The mystery of the old nun's whereabouts is answered when PC Noakes (Ben Caplan) calls Nonnatus House and tells Trixie (Helen George) that he found her seemingly lost while on the beat. He returns her home where she is welcomed by Sister Bernadette, Jenny, and Cynthia (Bryony Hannah).
