Living wreck
The Yongala wreck provides shelter on a featureless plain for more than 120 fish species. Many stay here their entire lives instead of moving to the outer reef when they grow up. Soft corals are a key attractant to all this life and almost every available space on the wreck is covered with them. They create a refuge for millions of small fish, and wherever small fish gather it's not long before bigger things turn up to eat them. Sea turtles including loggerheads and hawksbills are all attracted to the thriving ecosystem.
