Shonen Knife - Live session.

All female Japanese pop-punk band Shonen Knife grace us with a very lively live session. The band once turned Kurt Cobain into a 'hysterical 9-year-old girl at a Beatles gig'. Nuf said.

Kurt Cobain said "I was transformed into a hysterical nine-year-old girl at a Beatles concert." when he saw Shonen Knife live for the first time. Well they are stepping in to the studio for the first time this evening, so expect Marc to sound as husky as Bonnie Tyler afterwards! The all female pop-punk trio started out in Osaka back in 1981, heavily influenced by the late 70s punk movement. Furious writing, DIY ethic and penchants for brightly coloured outfits saw them attract attention from far and wide and become the darlings of the late 80s early 90s music scene. With fifteen studio albums to their name, numerous bands (Sonic Youth, L7 and Red Cross) covering them, and a certain John Peel being a big fan, it is no wonder why people often say that Shonen Knife are the greatest band the world has seen. With a forthcoming Ramones tribute album in the pipeline, and whilst currently being on tour, we are proud to give you Naoko Yamano, Ritsuko Taneda and Emi Morimoto live in session.
