Orquesta Buena Vista and Mardi Gras

A world of music in Oxfordshire with Marcos.

Marcos goes backstage at Oxford's New Theatre to meet Cuban music legend Omara Portuondo - in town with Orquesta Buena Vista - who are touring UK venues with their current show and keeping the musical legacy of the Buena Vista Social Club alive.

Global Echoes regular - accordion player and ethnomusicologist Faith Elliott - has been collaborating with Oxford-based violinist Adam Etinson. Rich Ward dropped in on them during a lively practice session in Jericho to discover Adam's musical journey and hear the fascinating story of his violin.

What really goes on at the Mardi Gras? Marcos went to the Cowley Road to meet Louisiana band the Bayou Brothers and find out...
