The Story of Morecambe & Wise's Return to Television
In 1954, after years of hard work learning their craft in variety halls up and down the country, Morecambe and Wise were given their first chance on television. The show was called "Running Wild" and it aired on the only channel available then, the 麻豆社. Unfortunately the series flopped and was savaged by the critics. It was a bitter pill to swallow and it affected Eric in particular. It would be some time before our most celebrated double act felt able to return and try again. This clip gives more detail on their comeback and how years later the tables turned resulting in a bidding war between ITV and 麻豆社 for their talent.
