Britain's ugliest fish
Martha Holmes is out to meet what she considers one of the ugliest fish in British waters. It's a wolf fish - or catfish as it is sometimes called. They usually live at about 300 metres depth, but in St Abbs they are in shallow water at 12 metres. Just under this overhang is a wolf fish that divers have named George. Martha entices him out with what he normally eats - a sea urchin. The wolf fish grabs it. He has great big fangs to pick it up, and palates of teeth at the top and sides of his mouth which he uses to crush the sea urchin and other prey such as crabs and molluscs. Every year the teeth are replaced as they wear down. George takes the sea urchin into the back of his cave to eat it.
