June Brown and others on Eastenders' Dot Branning
In 2009, June Brown appeared in a British television first. Her Eastenders character - Dot Branning – had an episode entirely to herself. Dot recorded a message to her husband Jim, ill in hospital following a stroke. Scriptwriter Tony Jordan talks about the emotional experience of writing the episode and June about her delight in Tony’s words. TV critic Mark Lawson analyses why the episode was such a success – and Barbara Windsor explains why she admires June Brown so much.
