In the series of documentaries about influential British figures, Mo Mowlam MP puts forward her case for Winston Churchill, the inspirational PM who led Britain to victory against Nazi Germany.

In the final film in the Great Britons series, Mo Mowlam MP puts the case for Winston Churchill. In the summer of 1940 Britain stood alone on the brink of invasion. Hitler's forces were on the horizon, poised to destroy us. It was the most dangerous moment in our history. We needed an inspirational leader, and we found it in Winston Churchill. Churchill had waited all his life for this moment. Although neglected and unconfident as a child, he always believed it would be his destiny to lead the nation. Throughout the 1930s Churchill was a lone voice in the wilderness warning of the danger posed of Hitler's Germany but when he became Prime Minister in 1940 he fulfilled his destiny and led Britain to victory.
