It鈥檚 a squeeze
Nesting just outside the production village is a family of goldcrests with goodness knows how many chicks crammed into their tiny home. As the chicks continued to grow, they were simply bursting out of the nest and as the weekend approached a cameraman was on standby to catch the moment when they fledged - as well as to solve the mystery as to just how many birds were in the nest. The chicks have very bright orange gapes which is helpful to the parents as they live in such dark fir trees. Some of the birds end up down on the ground, which puts them in danger of predators and is very unusual, and others simply want to stay in the tree and near to the nest. The adult birds continue to feed the chicks on the ground, trying to encourage them to return to the trees, but danger seems to loom as a duck comes over to investigate. One little chick stands up for himself as the duck tries to peck at him, twittering loudly until the duck gives up and walks away.
