Early riser

There's a great pace to see nightingales - a bird notoriously difficult to spot - on the banks of Rutland Water. Janet Sumner meets John of the Breeding Birds Survey. There are two breeding pairs of nightingales in the woods at the moment. Janet has never seen one before. They arrive here in late April and for the first two weeks they show themselves and sing. But you have to get up early to see them - the best views are at 5.30am to 7.30am.
