Danger badger!
The prairie dog's alarm call for badgers was an entirely new call for the researchers to record, so it was interesting to look closely at the structure of that call to see if it differed to other recordings. The researchers discovered that there is a difference both in their calls and in the shape of their sound graphs. The shape of each sound curve varies subtley but is consistent for each predator - so another prairie dog can tell is the message is "danger - badger" or "danger - coyote".
