Power struggles
In the pine forests of Scotland, fights between male capercaillies are very violent. Capercaillies are the largest of the grouses. The most powerful male claims the best display area and will drive off any intruder - including David Attenborough. The capercaillie charges at David, chases him about and knocks him over. Males display at each other and it develops into a fight during which the birds might be badly injured. The females look over the males and pick a mate - one male is the champion and almost attracts more mates than he can deal with.
