River turtle race

At the height of the dry season in October, giant river turtles have a race against time to lay their eggs. Taking advantage of the temporary sandbanks exposed by the receding waters, female turtles lay hundreds of eggs. But it isn't only the short time window they battle against. In their search for a suitable site, subsequent turtles may unknowingly dig up the first eggs laid. And vultures are quick to spot the abundant opportunities for an easy snack.
