After a number of false starts and unsuccessful trips, tracks in the snow led the crew to their first sighting of a wild panda. No one dared speak for fear of frightening the elusive animal off. Then, unexpectedly, it walked within metres of the crew, stopped, quietly growled and having politely asserted itself ambled off with the crew following at a respectful distance.
