No Burqas Behind Bars is an intimate observational documentary shot inside the female section of Takhar Prison in Afghanistan. Its 40 women inmates, crammed into just four cells, live their lives entirely cut off from outside society. The documentary was made under difficult conditions but with the full co-operation of the women and prison officials. It has been heralded at numerous international film festivals and has won many awards.
