Over several decades hundreds of thousands of young, unmarried, women in Australia had their babies taken from them at birth to help supply the adoption industry. Hospitals routinely drugged the women, falsified their signatures on consent forms and coerced them into giving up their babies. It led to a public inquiry and a government apology.
