State Of Independent Venues: Live at The Margate Arts Club with Gilles Peterson and Lapsley
Huw is live from The Margate Arts Club for State Of Independent Venues, with guests Gilles Peterson, Jamz Supernova, Joe Goddard and Kelly Lee Owens and a performance from Lapsley
Huw is live from The Margate Arts Club to end State Of Independent Venues, our week-long celebration of live music venues, with today's show focusing on the state of our clubs.
Independent artist and writer Lapsley performs a stripped-back session live from the venue, with tracks including her latest single Church.
Huw gets to know the venue and local scene with the help of co-owner Luke Vandenberg and Immy Bawtree from nearby venue Faith In Stranger.
Matt Everitt explains the issues facing clubs in the UK which are closing at an alarming rate. Then Huw hosts a DJ discussion about the health of the club scene and what can be done to help, with guests Gilles Peterson, Jamz Supernova, Hot Chip's Joe Goddard and Kelly Lee Owens.
We also hear the story of a venue who is taking part in this year's Independent Venue Week. Today it's Papillon in Southampton, a new venue which has been open a little over a year.
State Of Independent Venues is a week-long deep-dive into the live music industry on 麻豆社 Radio 6 Music. Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens are celebrating independent venues and clubs on team, hearing from those who run them, the artists that play there and exploring how we can protect it all for the future.
