Actor Donald Sutherland is castaway by Sue Lawley.

Donald acted in over 100 films, including such classics as M*A*S*H, Don't Look Now and JFK.

Born in Canada, he was tall and lanky as a child. Due to the size of his big ears, he was called 'Goofus' or 'Dumbo'.

However, it was those ears that caught the attention of the director of The Dirty Dozen and thus his film career was launched.

The actor went on to be given the Academy Honorary Award during the 90th Academy Awards in 2017.

Donald Sutherland died aged 88 in June 2024,
