Military historian Colonel John Hughes-Wilson presents the story of the men and women who served in the Home Guard during the Second World War and beyond.

The programme uses unique archive recordings, interviews and surviving male and female Home Guards and the services of the Chatham Home Guard re-enactors in a bid to tell the story of "The Real Dad's Army".
