Dougie is taking a winter woodland walk in Lochaber to search for the UK鈥檚 Tree of the Year. Elsewhere, Shahbaz visits the farm where scientists measure sheep methane emissions.

As winter gets under way, Dougie is at Auchnacarry Estate in Lochaber, where he takes a walk in the woods. He goes in search of the UK鈥檚 Tree of the Year, a mighty ancient oak that has recently been rediscovered and has captured the public鈥檚 imagination.

Shahbaz visits a farm near Crianlarich, where scientists are measuring methane emissions from sheep and looking at ways of reducing them. Rosie is on the Black Isle in Cromarty. She climbs a ladder to meet a man keeping the traditional craft of thatching alive.

Arlene is in the Borders, where she meets a farming family who have perfected a way of outwintering cattle that is also great for the ground. And ahead of this year鈥檚 麻豆社 Food and Farming Awards, Dougie meets another of the shortlisted entries in the 麻豆社 Scotland Local Food Hero category.
