Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (2/4): Wadada Leo Smith

Tom Service with live recordings and interviews from this year's Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival including featured composer Wadada Leo Smith

Tom Service reports from this year's Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, with interviews and live recordings from across this 10-day international event. Tonight we hear from this year's featured composer Wadada Leo Smith, and a new string quartet written in response to the 2021 Capitol attack in Washington DC; we also hear the fruits of a collaboration between GBSR Duo (UK) and Twenty Fingers Duo (Lithuania), as well as music from Finland's defunensemble and Berlin's Harmonic Space Orchestra, who take their name from a theoretical concept by the American composer James Tenney.
